Some people believe he’s telling the truth. But Adnan has always maintained he had nothing to do with Hae’s death. The case against him was largely based on the story of one witness, Adnan’s friend Jay, who testified that he helped Adnan bury Hae's body. ![]() Which tells me maybe it wasn't Adnan who did it.If we can keep emotions out of this and look at the profile of Adnan, before the incident, then here's what we know about him - Yet Hae's body was discovered almost within weeks since it was barely buried. I have edited this a little for readability but be warned it's too long! One thing that bugs me about Adnan being a murderer, is the shoddy burial job.Leakin Park is a know site for burying bodies and not many come out, so to speak. His mother ran a home day care. He also came from a stable family - father has a masters degree in engineering and held a steady job. Smoked pot but so do many high school kids, including "gifted kids" like Adnan. No history of crime, misdemeanor or even minor infractions. He was generally liked by everyone he knew and had good, healthy relationships with his friends and peers. Had good standing in his community (volunteered at the mosque etc.) He loaned Jay his car and his cell phone so he could carry out his plan. That could be the only explanation on how someone like him could do something so horrific! Now, based on Jay's testimony, Adnan not only manipulated Jay but he also went to great length to plan this out without drawing suspicion. Someone who is able to project an image of the "model kid" yet have a cold-blooded side to him, that no one else knew or ever witnessed. But I also don't see his family as radical by any stretch. So in short, he is someone who is well put together and had control over his life and future.Based on everything we know about Adnan's profile, it would mean he was a cold blooded murderer and clearly someone who is manipulative. There were cultural issues, but coming from an immigrant family myself, I can relate to the conservative attitude towards dating. And felt 8 inches is good enough to cover a full grown human! This was not an "accidental murder" or done in a fit of rage but apparently one where the killer planned it out meticulously. But he did not, apparently. ? If he were tired and not thinking clearly, he had plenty of time to go back and re-do the job well. More of an overachiever. So why would he compromise on digging a few extra inches. Thus the tall, imposing, drug-dealer, tough guy Jay became a meek accomplice, out of fear.As you can see, the profile of Adnan as a highly intelligent and manipulative murderer is starting to emerge here. With all this in mind, why would someone like Adnan "cut corners", so to speak, in burying the body?Sure its hard work to dig a hole and it was cold that day.Sure Adnan smoked pot but is not a "pothead" by definition. The officer records that Adnan asked if there was a police report on Hae.Why ask this? Because her body is still in the trunk of Hae's car at the Park and Ride, and now the police are actively looking for Hae's car.According to Kristi, as soon as the call ended Adnan left her apartment and Jay followed behind. They call on his brand new cell phone asking when he last saw Hae. Why?Because they were panicked into performing the burial. The police call Adnan at 6.30, just a few hours after they have abandoned Hae's body at the Park and Ride. And for some reason, an otherwise brilliant murderer, like Adnan, did just that. Commador64 emulator macVery occasionally these ordinary people commit murder.Nobody’s saying he’s a mastermind either.* He was overheard asking Hae for a lift - that’s a bad slip up* He was put on the spot and admitted the lift request to the cops, then later changes his story - this is why they focus in on him* He assumed he had a while to get rid of the body (perhaps he believed the old ‘only missing after 24hrs’ thing) - he was wrongIf you go with a guilty scenario, it paints a picture of a guy getting thoroughly spooked when the police call and then hurriedly driving off to dispose of the body. He was an above average student, who did the usual dumb student stuff. They dig the shallow grave, drive both cars a few miles East, further away from Woodlawn and abandon Hae's car behind the row houses.People who think he’s guilty don’t think he’s a mastermind, or was ever a picture perfect individual.*He acted “possessive” about Hae (from his teacher’s interview)The idea he was a model student comes from serial. And by drive to, I mean, the Park and Ride literally backs onto Leakin Park, (edit, here is a map: the Park and Ride where the car was left with Hae's body is the one marked at the west of the park) it's a very short journey to risk being pulled over by the police. And also, not be missing himself for too long.I’d say a shallow grave in the frozen soil of Leakin Park fits the bill for that scenario. It sounds like a bit of a mess, really. He’s not a mastermind, but he knows he needs to get rid of the body and get himself away from her car fast.
